I question whether this went down the way you think it did.

When you said $8,500 did you say "and I will cover tax, title, and doc fees in addition" or did you just assume he understood that was what you were saying? A dealer isn't making the kind of error that you are implying unless there's sawdust in the engine.

OTD. Out The Door is the total price on the car after all taxes and fees. OP offered $8500 for the car + paying
