This is the way. I know that the “purists” will disagree with me. But I love both.
Using a 3 or 4 weight fly rod on a small stream where you are literally sight fishing from your knees to a specific rising trout is amazing. The thrill if targeting that fish seeing him take the dry fly is a rush.
On the other side an ultra light spinning rod tossing a rapala on a big river and feeling the hard hit is a rush as well.
On a big river like the Madison River or even the Provo I can catch more and out catch many fly fishermen using a rapala. Take the middle hook off. Pinch the barbs etc..
