Thanks to a generous Christmas gift, I'm filling up a cart at Cabelas... backing to reel, line to backing, leader to line, tippet to leader, fly to tippet. Do fly fishers know they can catch the same fish on a spinner rod, and only have to worry about 1 knot?
I'll spare you most of the details, but my brother in law basically told me exactly what to buy for the first fly reel I ever owner/used... unfortunately that was for a sinking line and set up to fish a very secret spot I'm not allowed to talk about. He even admitted the set up was useless for anything else. Also unfortunately, he's no longer with us to guide me through what to buy for the next one.
Hoping to get more into fly fishing and abandon the hedonistic fulfillment of spinner rods. If anyone wants to take beginner, let me know!
