But good heavens, spinner fishing is super boring.
I can't even tolerate nymphing with a fly rod. I just stand there and flip line to the top of the run, have it float down, flip it back up to the top of the run. Ugh. And spinner fishing, I just stand (or sit there) throw my line in the water. If it's power bait or a worm I just wait. If it's a spinner I slowly reel in. Rinse and repeat. Super duper boring.

While I do like to streamer fish occasionally, dry fly is where its at. I'm constantly reading the water, targeting rising fish, moving up and down the river and it's a huge rush when a fish hits my line. Do I catch fewer fish, mostly, yes. But at least I'm not bored to death.

Regarding knots, that's just when you set it up the first time. Basically, the only two of those that you listed that you continually need to tie are the tippet to the leader and tippet to the fly. That's not asking too much.
