Was it Dan Sorenson who concussed himself tackling a dude?
Hit him in the knee with his helmet, right on the hard tissue.

So, is "intent" an element of targeting or not?

The problem is they don't define forcible contact which is what makes the whole thing subjective.

Ironic that they had all that time to review because the player was concussed

When the dude is concussed and can't even get up, that's a pretty good

Nah. I believe it was targeting but you can absolutely get a concussion without head to head contact.

Just the way he landed was brutal. He was basically picked up and slammed directly on his back.

How anybody can look at the video and come away thinking there wasn't forcible

The rules expert on the broadcast Matt Austin did not even hesitate to call it

Again, I agree it was targeting. But by adding the "clarifier" of forcible it's automatically subjective. And, I dont

The player was knocked completely off his feet, and the initial contact

How do they judge intent? Do they interview the player?

Can’t possibly make intent part of it.

The indicators try to capture intent.

Well, if you're intent isn't required then it's an easy call

The word "intent" is not used. It does imply some level of intent, though.

GT got hosed on a non-targeting call versus UGA. The crazy thing is it wasn't
