I don't know what he's like with recruiting. It seemed he struggled during Indy, got better with Big 12 affiliation, and that his position coaches are the major determinant in success or failure.
Culture and relationships with his people--players, coaches, staff, fans, former Cougs, admin, and even media--seems to be his clear emphasis. He's just logged 3 10 win seasons in 5 years and done so in 2 of those vs. tougher schedules than any other 10 win seasons in BYU's history.
It would appear that something is being done right.
