The deep channel around the edge is great at catching the liquid and making it easy to clean up vs it running all over the counter top.

The smaller one is $100 - just remember that the cutting board isn't usable as a cutting surface edge-to-edge because of the border.

Mine has held up and is perfectly flat still after more than ten years of use.
