during his time. He also lit up Utah high school football as a QB. Christian was among the states best in nearly every meaningful category out of High School.

Ryder was and is none of these things. He was nowhere near a state leader coming out of HS, he has no demonstrated success at the college or JUCO level — so comparing him to Christian Stewart doesn’t make a great case for Burton.

It’s ok to say that he’s a bust and arguably never deserved a D1 scholarship as evidenced by the fact that not a single other program including FCS schools offer him. It’s ok to admit that BYU made an odd bet with him and it didn’t pay off.
