I've upped salaries by 4% this year based on good work done (much better than the average 3%), resulting in 45% of my employees earning a raise.
I've added a Birthday PTO day, without taking away from the other 7 approved off holidays.
However, recently I have come across a situation where I'd like some advice. We are looking to have a pretty huge firmware release on the 20th. It's been in the works for the past four months, and it really can't be delayed any further. Any delays would result in a delay of relayed metrics to show general improvement in our product.
My team is pushing back because of the holidays. It will require 4-5 workers to be monitoring over the next 10 days, which I am now being told is unreasonable, based on the holiday. I don't understand this. I was generous by giving a holiday bonus, and I think the team could help out with this, despite the sacrifice. I offered myself to be available next Thursday to watch the launch. I even told people that if they were monitoring on the holidays, I'd make sure they got a $15 Doordash gift card for being on (Christmas Eve and Christmas only).
Am I being unreasonable? What would you suggest?
