Fair point. Detmer (to his credit) & other BYU greats (Nielsen, Wilson, McMahon
& Young) have mentioned how they had it much easier in their day than BYU QB's of recent history.
It was LaVell at the college level (Bill Walsh at the Pro level) that revolutionized college football with the "West Coast Offense". Defenses had no idea how to stop it. Most had rarely seen a QB actually "throw" the football.

Yeah I don't think so. If the same TY Detmer when he was college age played for BYU this year, I think given the change
