they would accept them. That's the only thing I can think of as to why Whit alluded to them not being in the conference long term. I htink the Big ten told them to make the playoffs then we will talk.
I personally don't think on field play has much to do with expansion. It is all about dollars. Seemed like the Big 10 took Oregon and WA begrudgingly at the Behest of UCLA and USC. If they will barely take them, there is no way they are taking UU before Miami, FL state, Clemson just to name a few. Now maybe they want a division out West. If they want an 8 team Western division then I think UU is in no matter what. There aren't 4 teams worth more than them.
Maybe Big Ten said they want one MST team. Then UU is competing against Colorado. Seeing their success this year could be putting undue stress on them. I think CU is a flash in the pan though and if this is the case, and they don't want BYU then UU is the only logical team. So all they have to do is beat out CU.
I think the Big Ten told them to go do something on field and then come back just to get them to stop calling them. UU thought they would make the playoffs this year and be able to call the Big Ten up for entrance. Now that is out the window they are scrambling.
I hope Holmoe is opening up a dialog with the Big Ten and the SEC and is doing a full court press on them all the time.
