I think that had a lot to do with his early staffs being just phenomenal. I would say post 1985. He had some great moments but at that point he had built a program and simply had better athletes than most the teams he was beating. Yes, he gets credit for building that program, but I don't think there are too many teams from 1985 to 2000 that overachieved, based on the talent they had and the competition they were playing.
