Most garage door openers have a little wire for the antenna.. if you have one, find it and move it.
Old openers have something like this... re-position it, and it should improve remote reception.
Your second option is to see if you can buy an extender (or better antenna).

There is usually a light that flashes when something is wrong. The number of times it flashes will indicate the problem

I don't see any flashing ever, I know what you mean, like if something is in the way of the safety laser you get
