How about this one - defense travels
Besides if you’re listening to anything that’s being said, it’s “complimentary football”. Offense is efficient, special teams is very good and defense is statistically elite. That’s a winning formula. Perhaps the real winning formula.

Baseball is more of a skill game than athletic. Watching the Mets and Dodgers you see a bunch of athletes but not ones that look like basketball or track or even football players (not that there isn’t cross over for sure) but hitting a fastball or painting a corner is more about skills developed (eye hand coordination etc) than pure athleticism. So yea, just like golf, you’re more susceptible to mental (yips) than the other three of the big four.

I get it. It’s hard to put into words without resulting in cliches but as essential as Tom Brady was to the Patriots (they’re not much now without him). The defense being elite set them up for Super Bowl runs. Without that you’re just Peyton Manning with the colts. Great but not elite. Make it almost there but never sustained success. But look at the Ravens, Bears and a load of others I’m forgetting. You can do it with a good but maybe. It great offense (sorry Walter Peyton) but defense has to be there.

I’m sure you can find one example that refutes me but let’s not talk 1984. We really never will know what would have happened if Washington or Oklahoma had chosen to play us that year, but given Boscoe’s health, I’m guessing it might not have turned out like it did.

Who knows? But also who cares? Go Cougs!!!
