NBA announcers don't have to talk about it. The more players BYU puts into the league, the easier it is to pitch BYU to high level prospects.
I disagree strongly with regards to Kawhi and San Diego State. I think they've leveraged Kawhi's success in the NBA to great effect. They're recruiting at a much higher level now than they were before Leonard. They were recruiting unrated, 2 and 3 star guys almost exclusively until they landed Leonard in 2009. Following his success in 2010 and his being drafted in 2011, their recruiting blew up. They landed their first consensus 5 * prospect (Winston Shepard) in 2012 and haven't looked back, signing a string of blue-chip guys ever since. Seriously...go to 247 and look at their recruiting classes before 2012 and after 2012. The Leonard effect was shocking.
