Guy has spent his entire career in the state, doubt he jumps outside the state now

He grew up in Utah, went to school in Utah, went to college at Ricks and then Utah, and has only coaches in Utah. That's not the transient life of a coach always working to move up.

So here's the options, in my opinion

  • Stay at BYU as the DC
  • Go to Utah St as the head coach
  • Go to Utah as the DC

Given his history, his alma mater and his expressed interests, I do think he'd prefer Utah over BYU in a vacuum.  Like if he was still at Weber St and both Utah and BYU offered him the DC position with the same salary, I think he'd take Utah.

But it's not in a vacuum. He now has recruits and connections at BYU, whereas Utah would mean working under a first-year HC and losing the work he's done the last two years. So I don't think you can completely rule out the Utah DC position, but I don't think it's likely.

The Utah St HC position honestly probably isn't enough. Again, I don't think you can completely rule it out, but the G5/P4 split is widening.

And then there's the Utah HC position - which I'm sure he'd jump at, but I also don't realistically see a way that Utah can offer him that, with the commitments they've made to Scalley.

But I'd say those options worry me more than Florida or Baylor or UNC. Just based on what Hill has seemed to value thus far in his career
