Don't love strict tiers, some sort of algorithm seems more reasonable than strict tiering, it does seem fair that the bigger programs get more, but tiering I don't love.
Maybe the algorithm is based on viewership on comparable viewing windows and channels, Wins/losses, and other things over a trailing 3-5 year period. At the end of the day it seems that this will just create more of a financial gap between the haves and have nots. Some of that is fair and some of it is not. I hope in 5-10 years when some form of this happens, we don't look back and think: What have we done?
I love College football, but if it simply becomes the minor leagues that really only rewards top 8-10 programs, it just might not feel much like college football anymore. I think there will be many that lose interest. They can try to play to the top 18 teams bringing in 60% of the revenue, but if they completely rig the game against the other 40%, it will be to their detriment, they will kill a large part of the market.
