I think there are more college football fans who root for teams outside the
SEC and B1G than there are that root for teams in those conferences. I agree that I will watch whatever division BYU is in, because that is what is most relevant to me as a fan of the Cougars. If I want to watch the most elite level of football, I'll watch the NFL. If I want to watch college football, I'll watch what can, in even some very minute way, affect BYU football. I would have no interest in watching college football that only involved the SEC and B1G, unless BYU were in that league. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. I don't think it will be the financial boon they expect.

Fans of the SEC think the football world revolves around them. And while I agree that they are the strongest conference with probably the most passionate (substitute "out-of-whack priorities") fanbases, they have zero draw to me as a lifelong college football fan, in and of themselves. For instance, I only watched a little bit of the Alabama-Georgia game on Saturday during commercial breaks because I was more interested in the Big XII games going on at the same time.
