All-American
There's a very easy solution to this, but the fans keep loudly complaining that
they don't want to do that, either.
Make players employees like the coaches are, and this all goes away instantly.

There’s nothing I respect more than a player quitting on his team mid season

The only team that will accept him is some team

It depends on how good he is; BYU has taken players who quit mid-season and lost players who quit midseason

It's one thing for a salesman to get his company and not expect much

CFB is a team sport run by people who are not good at being on a team. Like life

Daaaang So-crates! That was DEEP!

Yes, but also shame on the school for making promises and then voiding on them

Maybe. We don’t know the other side of the story

He shouldn’t have demanded more mid season.

We don't know if that's true. The local reports have a strong incentive to lie

Inside reports are confirming that.

Its what makes the most sense. His value increased mid year and now he is trying

If we're assuming it's entirely NIL, how/ when do you propose he "demand" more?

He already got his degree.
Archaea
6:58am
Is that what happened or is he getting a better offer to go somewhere else
johnnybyu
6:53am
Why would his offer be contingent on quitting midseason?
Mostlyaccurate
6:54am
Because 4 games this can be a redshirt year and he gets the year back to make
johnnybyu

Also, we should. It is irresponsible/bad stewardship to not make as much money

Get it in writing.

Coaches have been doing this for years. Just less obviously.

Oh, 100% fans are hypocrites about this.

This is true, will happen with players more however since they only have 4 years

This isn't a case of quiet quitting. It's just plain quitting.

How? Head hunters lure employees away all the time to other employers

Sure, but you would have contractual protections.

Contracts and collective bargaining.

Problem is values are still wild west. A star contributor vs non contributor
johnnybyu

Yeah exactly. I think that's where it has to go.

Lawsuit allowing/ forcing schools to pay NIL directly will likely change that

Mmk. But those coaches had actually done something worthy of a promotion. Look

If he isn't good then it shouldn't be a big deal that anybody cares about.

To clarify- are you saying that if this was a star player

Thx. CBers can do a lousy job of referencing the subject they're posting about.

This is what NIL was destined to lead to in a lot of cases. I think it will eventually unbalance and ruin CFB

Look a few posts down about UNLVs QB quitting after 4 games so
