I'm constantly disappointed by the impact of networking in general...
I didn't get into a top 10, I got wait-listed at Northwestern Kellogg but didn't get in so I took the best offer I got which was a school ranked in the 10-20 range. I was also offered a partial scholarship at BYU (which I believe was ranked #25 at the time) and could have lived at home and saved money on tuition, but instead got an expensive MBA and graduated with $120K of debt which took me 7 years to pay off.
If I had it to do all over again, I would have gone to BYU instead. In my case I didn't learn anything new at my school that I wouldn't have learned at BYU, and the networking was overrated for me because I would have landed the same job out of school no matter where I went, and I haven't really utilized the network since then.

I'm consistently disappointed with people on linkedin and how much they are willing to do for others. I am not a hypocrite; if anyone reaches out to me who is a BYU grad or if they're from my MBA program (or LDS), I will always get on a call for 15 mins and help them in anyway possible. This includes job referrals, advice, connections, or whatever. I'm not exactly Mark Zuckerberg but I'm a CRO and quite busy but I will bend over backwards because I believe in good karma.

On the other hand, I reach out to folks about once a week including BYU grads, individuals from the state of Utah, MBA grads, and they usually don't respond. If they live near me or if I'm traveling to Utah I'll even offer to buy lunch, but 9 times out of 10 people just ignore it. Sometimes it is in a sales capacity wondering if they will connect me to someone else in their org (which I will do and have done for people countless times), but other times it is just for advice or intel and they still ghost me.
