But I think the coaches have too much talent to just roll out "the best 5 players". Instead, they'll be thinking about units, and about the type of offense/defense they want to run. I tend to think they'll want 5-out, multiple ball handlers on offense and switchable defenders. In short, they want the Boston Celtics model.
Given that, I think Bosko will play a fair amount as a 5-out center, and also at the 4 because he handles the ball better and moves better than Fouss/Keiba/Mag. I think Keiba will play more over Fouss, not because he shoots the 3 any better (neither of them do), but a rim runner works better in a 5-out offense rather than a back to the basket guy.
I think Catchings will play over Mag because of ball handling and shooting, but this is still a toss-up. Mag supposedly is pretty good on catch and shoot 3s, which is not what he was asked to do with his previous team. If this is true, and he can develop this ability, then he's great in a 5-out offense and may play a ton.
I love Knell, and think CB highly undervalues him. He'll have a role as the best 3 point shooter on the team, but I wonder if Saunders will play more because he can switch more on defense and is a better cutter to the basket on offense.
Anyway, in short, I think the answer to who gets more minutes will not be about who is best individually but how to make the overall unit fit coaches' plans.
And biggest takeaway is this team is very talented and the coaches have lots of options! I think this team will be top 4 or dare I say it ... top 3 in the Big 12. Maybe not at first, but by season's end.
