I was shocked at how often BYU kept trying to force the ball to the RB's
Even as we got farther and farther down the depth chart. By my count, BYU ran 64 offensive plays. 25 of those plays ended with our running backs getting the ball on running plays plus four more passes. Ten more plays ended with Jake Retzlaff running the ball. And 11 plays ended up with the ball going to a WR (8) or TE (3) plus 13 incomplete/intercepted passes.

It seemed to me that the strength of our offense was our WR group and no receiver had more than 2 receptions. It didn't make sense to me that our WRs only got the ball eight times combined while Enoch Nawahine got five touches (and I hadn't ever heard of him before the second half yesterday).

And if our offense really does require the the RB's to get the ball 3x as often as the WR's, it doesn't make sense to me that we didn't get a solid RB in the portal.

It seems to me that the BYU offense is becoming the Utah offense of old in many ways. I remember them having good wide receivers for years (or at least claiming they did) but never being able to get them the ball as they kept playing the slow, run heavy, ball control offense.
