Communicate how they feel, report if their friends are struggling. I don't have the data on hand, but my understanding is there is no correlation between rising suicide and talking about it.

Numerous experiences of teachers calling at midnight saying their child got a message from a friend of a friend that someone is really struggling and isn't sure what to do. We get the police there in minutes, help set up supports. Pretty amazing what our counselors do to support these kids
