I coach youth tackle football and had a parent text me last week upset about their sons playing time. Their son

has missed 1-2 practices every week (we practice 3 days a week) and they said they don't feel like its fair to punish their son if he can't make it due to other commitments. I told them we aren't punishing him and that its not fair to play him over kids who show up to practice. I don't get why that is so hard for a parent to understand. We play him more than we even have to because we don't have to guarantee playing time if they miss practice. We still play him plenty on defense but I told the Dad we wouldn't be playing him on offense if he isn't there to know the plays. After our conversation last week he missed two more practices and the dad was upset again and yelling from the sidelines about his son playing, some parents are clueless.
