I have tried CPAP and I hate it. So much air is forced down my throat that I wake up ripping it off my face because I feel like I am drowning. I have a severe sleep apnea, so it likely takes that much air pushing through the opening to keep it open, but it makes it feel like I can't breath out. I have tried different mouth pieces and they either fall out all night or don't move my jaw enough to fix the problem. The other night I woke up gasping for air and it got me worried. When we travel, whomever has to share the hotel room with me can't sleep because I snore so loud. My dad said my snoring scared him because I would go so long between breathes and then take a huge one, with the accompanying loud snore. He was worried I was not getting enough oxygen. My sleep study results showed that I was waking around 6-10 times an hour to breath. So even though I fall asleep fast and generally don't wake up during the night, my sleep quality is poor and needs to be addressed. I went to an open house about a year ago where they talked about the Inspire device. Very tempted to do it, but don't like the idea of having something surgically implanted if it doesn't work well. Curious to know if anyone here has it and how it impacted their sleep and if you had severe sleep apnea at the time.
