Since 1972, BYU is the only non-P5 team to win the national championship

So a P5 team is any team from one of those conferences or conferences that fed directly into a P5 conference (eg. Southwest) or were independent but later joined a P5 conference (eg. Syracuse, Notre Dame, Miami, Pitt, Penn State).

And Utah as a P5 only counts beginning in 2011.

He shouldn't because utah wasn't receiving P5 money or a P5 recruiting advantage. They weren't even a good G5 team then.
