Not true. "Setting the bar" is the level at which you will consider yourself a

success. In his mind, anything less than the playoffs (which could be accomplished without a conference championship, by the way) would not be a success. That's very far from saying it's a lock. Obviously, what he would consider to be a successful season is not a "lock."

So that's your best and only example. Please show me anyone saying the conference championship is a given or a lock. Because you haven't done it yet and I've never seen it.
