Only 21 seconds off the WR. If he continues to take 16 seconds off every 7 days
He'll beat that in Paris.

Time
Corrigan's improvement from the NCAA finals to today seems unprecedented

His 8:13 would have been good for fourth place at the Tokyo Olympics

He didn’t have to run against competition. Everyone running wasn’t trying to pass him.

It's also way harder to push yourself faster alone without competition

He was in better shape than his 8:29 at NCAA’s showed. There have been big

And there's still room for improvement! He stumbled near the end of his race!

Granted, that's the time for stumbling.

A lot easier to improve your time when it's essentially just you and a pacer.

It was 84 degrees and felt like 91. He also was training to peak for NCAAs. Pretty darn incredible.

And his third race in 8 days.

Not a lot of people thought he would do it given the conditions.

Did he not have any other competitors? Or were they all just below his level?

There were 3 other people I think. Only the pacer was ever ahead of him.

He wasn't racing for a win today, but a time. Many times races are "tactical" where the runners try to keep the race

Believing that you can do it. It’s what holds most people back.

Running is often so unpredictable

Agreed. That's what makes running so exciting (at least to me).

As a former collegiate steeplechaser, it doesn't seem real or possible. Amazing.

he said the NCAA championships was the first time he ever had to run a steeplechase on a 2 day turnaround
