I'm becoming one of "those" type of Apple guys
I used Windows exclusively for 25 years, was a "power" user. Built my own PCs, hacked the Windows registry, all that. I also used Samsung phones almost exclusively after smartphones became a thing.

My wife got a macbook 10 years ago, and then my kids did when they went to school. But I held on using Windows. They all had iPhones, but I kept using my Samsung. Finally, 1.5 years ago I decided that I'd give an iPhone a try - primarily because everybody else complained about the family group text that sucked because there was a Samsung phone on it. So I switched from Samsung to iPhone and it wasn't a big deal. The iPhone did everything I wanted it to do, only a few things that took a little getting used to, but it wasn't a big deal. The family texts on iMessage were much better.

So I decided to go all in - got a Macbook air, apple watch, air pods, Apple TV. It was a seamless transition - a few things on MacOS that took a little getting used to (Command C and Command V being the biggest). But they did everything I needed and were all really simple to set up and get to do what I wanted. I still use Windows for work, but hardly as a power user - that's all MS Office and other business apps.

I just got a Windows laptop for my son. He's in the HS Aviation program and wanted something that can run Flight Simulator, so that ruled a Macbook out. But man, setting this thing up has been a beast. I pulled it out of the box and turned it on, and for the next couple of hours of setup it was pretty much a constant cycle of downloading some new update and then rebooting the laptop. I probably had to reboot 6 or 7 times after waiting for some big download and update to finish. Then I went to set up a standard user account on Windows that my son could use, and it took another hour or so to get Microsoft Family to recognize the device so it could apply some parental controls to the account. Then I downloaded MS Flight Simulator and installed it (200GB download) but it didn't work on my son's Windows account because apparently Microsoft defaults downloading all the content to a protected user folder instead of a shared library where all users on the PC can access it. So now I'm downloading that 200GB again to a shared folder on the PC. Not to mention all the other useless junk that came installed on the laptop - MSI "True Color" app that has a popup window every time you sign in trying to get you to select a color profile, and there's no way that I can see to disable that. Norton Antivirus with a 60 day "free" trial but seemed to get in the way of other things I was trying to do so I uninstalled it, some "enhanced audio" program that launches on startup that I'll need to disable or uninstall.

I've found myself annoyed at how cumbersome this process is to just set up a new laptop. For all of the faults that Apple products have, they sure do get this kind of user experience stuff right.
