Just guessing, but over 20 miles it feels like I climb about 4,000' and descend about 4,000.

Almost to the Sierra. Still a decent amount of snow. I'm nervous for July 1st, can't imagine doing it in May/June.

Exactly. PCTA is recommending a detour to the east using Bishop and Piute Passes. I have not looked at the details yet
