Yep. We have 9AM-3PM core hours. Meaning some choose to start at 7AM and are out

at 3:30PM while others start at 8:30 or 9:00 and end later. All are there during the 6 “core” hours.

What the boss in the OP is proposing offers zero flexibility to employees and is a power move that he thinks will get him more free labor and more control.

I’d start looking. No reason to work for someone like that.
