They have hired a list of coaches with very good to rockstar resumes, and unlike BYU, they paid handsomely for them and their support staff.
The results have basically been progressively worse.
Nebraska has a major recruiting problem. It isn’t due to a lack of resources or effort. It is a matter of inherent deficiencies and challenges in getting the best players to come to Lincoln to play football. Some coaches who have achieved enviable results elsewhere could not solve this.
BYU will present significant challenges to whoever is leading it. Recruiting declined following the mid-to-early 2000’s. Two staffs with a number of different assistants have struggled to revive it, and so will the next guy.
