Head coach sets a program back for years.
We are told it’ll take 3-4 years to get over the Tuiaki damage to the defense. Having the Tuiaki of head coaches is even worse.
Kalani is 8 years into his HC term and he makes the same puzzling, basic mistakes now as when he was hired.
Thinking creatively is not his strong suit.
Thinking strategically is not his strong suit.
Hiring strong assistant coaches is not his strong suit.
Preparing a team for games is not his strong suit.
Making in-game adjustments is not his strong suit.
Kalani is a nice guy, that’s his strong suit.
We think this is cute and endearing -
Kalani is the star struck 9 year old kid who loves Max Verstappen and F1, who suddenly gets a seat on the circuit. We love his love of the game.
But he doesn’t have the physical or mental capacity to effectively control the car like the other drivers. He can’t strategize or think ahead like the other drivers. He can’t make midrace adjustments like the other drivers. He can’t hire good personal trainers like the other drivers. He’s just giddy to be in the car, and we love that giddiness.
Kalani is the Tuiaki of head coaches.
