Follow-up on my son's injury at the hotel
We complained to the front desk manager on Saturday about the injury and they filled out an incident report documenting what happened. They said the general manager and the "HR Team" (whoever that is) was out for the weekend so they would take care of it on Monday. Later that day a maintenance worker came in to cut off and sand down the broken soap holder so that there was no further risk to being cut on it.

We heard from the hotel today. They took responsibility for the incident. They denied knowing about the damage in the shower prior to our arrival, though we insisted it was there when we checked in and if they didn't know about it that it was a "them" problem on not knowing the condition of the rooms they were renting out. They did offer to pay the medical bill (which ended up being $600 without insurance) and refunding the price of the room ($267 for the 3 nights we were there).

My wife still feels like they should compensate more because of how it ruined my son's vacation (the biggest thing he was looking forward to on the vacation was swimming in the pool. Instead he had to sit on the side while all his siblings and cousins enjoyed pool time). My son even mentioned that it was the "worst vacation ever" and that he now has anxiety about showering in hotel showers. That may be overblown (he tends to exaggerate that stuff), but he IS prone to anxiety, etc. that we have worked with a therapist in the past over, so I wouldn't discount those emotions entirely.

So my question is - is the hotel's compensation ($600 for the medical bills, $267 in refunding the room cost) fair enough? Or should be push for more? I don't really want to push because I think the compensation is about on par with what I would expect, but my wife seems to feel otherwise. What does CB think?
