I love this assumption in these threads. "You disagree with my decision? You

As others have pointed out, plenty of folks who manage people recognize that what you have incentivized here isn't more advanced notice, but later notice. Anyone who works for you and knows about this situation will now wait until their last day to inform you that they're leaving.
