My family has lived in Utah for a very long time and a few have joined the church, most have not. For some reason EVERYBODY with the exception of a few in laws are BYU fans. I’m sure this stems from the “glory days” of BYU football (which was slightly before I was born).
I’m not going to lie, I’ve been tempted to switch sides for personal reasons which don’t belong on this board, but just can’t seem to do it. I, however, have never been tempted to support USU. BYU football is an unhealthy, frustrating addiction and sometimes obnoxious to people of other faiths who don’t fully understand the culture BYU has, but here I am nonetheless.
I hope the next few years can be the new “glory days” and more non lds folk will start to support BYU again. I know there are more of us on this board.
While I drink my adult beverages during BYU games, and you all drink your Diet Coke or whatever it may be, I’m glad BYU unifies us and we can all raise our voice to the Cougars of BYU!
