My load up in Lebanon, Indiana, headed to Corinne, Utah at the Walmart distribution center…

I have my days planned out, I’ll stop in Grand Island, Nebraska at the big truck stop.

Good sized area, I have my iPad, pull up the game and I am not getting that great of a connection at all. So, I turn on the Sirius XM in the cab and am listening to the game, trying everything I can to get the connection…NOT HAPPENING!!!

Frustrated I take my iPad with me into the truck stop, go to the main counter and ask for a tv control to go upstairs and watch the game on one of their TVs!!! The guy says I might be able to get cbssn on there, but not sure. Whatever, I’ll try…so I’m listening to the game on my buds, searching for the game…nothing, zilch, notta, zero, and I’m pissed…

So, I go downstairs, turn in the remote, head to the sports bar in the truck stop, hoping the game is on…

I’m wearing my BYU sweatshirt, BYU hat, and as I’m rounding the corner, this dude in Kansas City Chiefs attire yells out, “DUDE, GO BYU!!!!” I smile, we make eye contact and I go give him a fist bump…

He says join us, the game is on!!! I said sweet!!! I should have done this 2 hours ago!!!

Anyway, we get to talking, of course he’s a truck driver, grew up in Utah, lives in Idaho Falls, and hasn’t been active for 20 or so years. Loves BYU football. Had tickets at one point, follows them religiously!!!

I actually had more fun visiting with this dude, then I did watching the game. Being addicted to alcohol, for me, has always been tough at some points in my life. I’ve been active in church since 2009…2008 I hit rock bottom. I’ve shared that on here before…

Bottom line is this, whether you are an active member, not active, and/or not active and root for BYU, that’s freaking awesome!!! I really believe there is a reason for BYU football, yes, when the team is winning it is much funner, but it seems to me, those that follow the team thru thick and thin, no matter their personal beliefs, have a main reason why they love BYU football. I believe it is the spirit behind BYU football, the reason why.

So, I toast my Diet Coke to you all…may BYU football bring you happiness and may you all know, you are welcome at my table!!!
