A Mission Can Open Surprising Doors
Got news for you: BYU has missed out on many quality LDS athletes for a variety of reasons, but a mission can open a lot of doors. To wit:

Michael Corey was a talented but rather scrawny QB at Delta HS who had zero offers after graduation. BYU wouldn't even give him a sniff. A tryout at Snow JC was a bust, and he headed off on his mission in Dallas. A few months before his release date, he was throwing a football around on a P-day when he caught the eye of influential Texas A&M boosters. Next thing he knew, he was using another P-day to work out for A&M coaches, which led to an invitation as a preferred walk-on after his mission.

Within two months of his release, Corey was the scout team QB for A&M. The following season, his athleticism (6'3" 215, 39" vertical) won him a spot on the traveling team as a WR. This season he's on full scholarship in the WR rotation...a long ways from being a Snow reject!

Joining Corey at A&M this year is Misi Tupe, a McBride RB recruit/Urban Meyer reject. After Misi's mission, he tried out at Dixie, and was the conference defensive MVP at LB last season. This year, Tupe's ferocious play has earned him a starting spot at LB with A&M's Wrecking Crew defense.

Both these players could start at LES,but they've joined the ranks of other RM's who, for whatever reason BYU conjured up at the time, are stars at other schools. Keep your head up and your options open. Be a great missionary, stay in shape, and let the Lord open the doors. Meanwhile, quit whining...it'll only keep those doors closed.
