Sorry to hear things didn't work out for you.
To be honest, I was hopefull but also a little skeptical as to your chances as WR seems to be a position BYU is deep at currently.

I think it would be hard for the coaches to take a few minutes and look at 80-100 kids and decide who they should keep and who they shouldn't. Particularly if they are doing it for the first time and have never seen these kids before.

I would think that someone would have to really stand out in order to get much of a look. It seems like when they talk about walk-ons getting playing time, we're really talking about preferred walk-ons that the coaches recruited and invited to come, just with no scholarship.

I'm sure it is disappointing to see kids make it that may have lesser athletic ability. All I can say is maybe some of these guys, at least the ones who made it, were already known to the coaches. I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that this were true and that the coaches didn't really look at anyone they hadn't have previous contact with.

And I wouldn't be surprised if someone in your situation wouldn't have an easier time getting on the team by going JC first to get some playing time and get noticed. If the coaches didn't already see you, and you were playing a new position from previous years in HS, they really having nothing to go off of. I would think making some plays on the JC level could get someone in your shoes a better look. And even then, if you are still looking to walk-on at least you've got tape of yourself playing WR and I would think a better chance of being a preferred walk-on or having them really pay attention to your workout.

Again, sorry it didn't work out for you. It certainly is an uphill battle and I wish you luck post-mission.
