NICU equipment and monitoring is high level

The cost is still preposterous, but they do a lot of stuff in the NICU and it definitely isn't cheap.

When I did my pediatrics rotation, if a baby starts getting close to a certain bilirubin level, they send them on over to the NICU immediately. You don't want to take any chances, even if they won't require that extra level of care
