I get ticked too, but not much that I know I can do about it.
I went in once with flu symptoms and they were worried about hauntavirus (lots of mice in the home we started to occupy) and they needed to do blood work and a nose swab. They did the nose swab and it came out positive for the flu. I said "good, we are done".
But they convinced my wife to do the blood work as a "precaution" (I was too stubborn) and it came back negative.
Later on it was just south of $500 for the blood test. The nose swab was only a hundred and something. I hadn't hit my deductible yet, so all of it came out of pocket. My wife thought it was worth it "just to know", I felt like I was bullied into a test I didn't need.
I was pretty bitter.
If they were required by law to say, "I'm going to give you Aspirin now at $40 a dose", you'd better believe I'd start bringing my own.
