I am completely opposite. How many great HC’s aren’t great at
the X’s and 0’s? HC’s cost too much today to have them be a CEO only. They need to be good at one side of the ball regardless of who their assistant is.
Just look at the NFL. Every great team is coached by someone who is considered either an offensive of defensive guru. This is how you build great assistants and a coaching tree. Paying KS between 5-8 million per year and then paying top dollar for assistants is expensive and once one of them leaves BYU has a poor season.
