...and my rebuttal
...I agree, both TD's to Ta'ase were awesome. I'll give Jake credit for those, however, his negative plays quickly cause people to forget his good ones, because they're much more detrimental to the outcome of games (e.g. pick 6 vs Oklahoma)

In reality, the SIU game was a warm up scrimmage. The season began with SMU and Wyoming (should) also be somewhat of a scrimmage that would be a good oppty to give Bohanon some reps in.

I've pointed this out that I am really happy BYU pulled out a win, but I can also say that it was rough offensively. You have to admit 3 TOs by Retzlaff singlehandedly put BYU in a much closer game than it should have been. Had Jake thrown no int's or had zero fumbles... and still played the same game ~200yds, 1TD etc, BYU probably wins more in the 24/25-9ish range.

This is what you would get with Bohanon. He's on par with Jake... not the most accurate passer, but neither is Retzlaff. But GBo is a MUCH better runner and even more important, historically has much lower propensity of causing turnovers.

As for your mobility point, Jake has averaged 2.4 yards per carry throughout his career in his 6 starts. Gerry has averaged 5.4 YPC throughout his career. Gerry also has run for 15 TDs vs Jake's 3 (all last year). He is a FAR better mobile option... also the fact that he's 230lbs vs Retzlaff around 200. This point is not even close.

The most incriminating stat is Jake is averaging 1.5 TO's PER GAME! (9 in 6 starts).

Gerry has only had 3 total lost fumbles in his entire career (32 games, 19 starts) and only 13 int's for a total of 16 TOs in 19 games... basically half (0.84) of JR's TO/starting game rate, but then he's played in parts of 13 other games so it's actually even lower than that.

In summary, Jake doesn't do anything better than Gerry imo, however, Jake does have significant negative upside in that he can't run as well and has a high rate of turning the ball over. If GBo gives us the exact same output as JR (which isn't impressive) but without the turnovers, and also being stronger in the redzone and being able to run for TD's, it's a no brainer to at least give him a chance.

This is not bullying, this is cold, hard data...
