Well, there are some facts. In the book Influence they go over how there is an

Increase of suicide after highly publicized ones. And it is targeted to people who identify similar to the deceased.

That is not to say a well worded and disseminated suicide awareness campaign can't help, but there is evidence to support opposing viewpoints.
