Some share equal playing time among the entire team and they will get criticized for not having their best kids on the field to win. Some really value winning and play the best kids 90 percent of the time or 100 percent. I've gone back and forth on it over the years as I coach yearly. It's hard. But if it's rec I'm of the opinion to share time equally and lose games you could have won. There is no value in winning youth rec games being Uncle Rico and keeping certain kids on the bench. If it's rec and everyone pays the money, I don't hold kids accountable for their parents inability to get them to practice.
