We actually don’t know what time your surgery will start. Schedulers are playing a game of Tetris with various surgeries and lengths of cases making them fit.
All this to be able to fit in maybe one or two more cases each day.
By the end of the year this policy allows sometimes hundreds more cases to be performed and a more efficient OR that stays afloat so that people can still have surgery. So kind of a win win. But it requires sacrifice on both parts.
Across the country there are thousands more operations.
They can probably improve their customer service , but that’s the general reason.
