Really depends on the kid.
I had one kid who would destroy his own life and take every single consequence and escalate it until basically there’s nothing we could do or take from him. He will be 15 this month and still hasn’t earned enough trust to have his own cell phone. Some people want to learn everything the hard way.

I have another one who would feel guilty about what she did, and talking to her about. It would probably be enough along with some minor additional chores and a period of grounding until trust is restored. However, that one would be sneaking out doing good sneaky teenager things and I probably wouldn’t even say anything because she’s a good kid

So it comes down to what is the intended effect of the consequence and we have to leave pride completely out of it. I’ve made lots of mistakes in this area, but one thing I’ve learned is love is always better than pride or anger so if you get stuck in a decision you choose love because you’ll never regret that
