He’s defended because he’s the type of guy you need to be successful at BYU.
Makes up in personality/character for what the institution is lacking in resources or recruiting ability. Makes it cool to go to BYU even though the honor code is an enormous liability.
What I would love is if the institution would put the resources in necessary to achieve success without having to rely so much on coaches turning water into wine all the time.
Makes it much easier to hold people accountable when you are paying the market rate and giving them all the resources they need to be successful.
