Intervention Needed
My kids don’t play sports. But if they wanted to, I’d sign them up for as long

When the kids isn’t having fun and enjoying it.

And how other people respond to them playing contributes to whether they have fun.

I feel like this has left since they got rid of neighborhood based sports.

I agree with that but would saying playing to compete rather than for fun. Those two things can be the exact same thing

Because it is good for kids to play on a team, work through struggles, and make friends. Rec level sports are important

I coach a lot of kids rec-league sports, and I somewhat agree with OP

I've coached little league for almost 10 years and get the frustration, but it is still a rec sport. For the most part

Sure. It’s not always fun. But it’s rec.

Good grief, I understand that and I keep volunteering to coach & teach kids

You understand the difference between no interest and not good, right?

I've coached kids that didn't want to play, but it was good for them.

Nowhere in any of my posts did I say that I want the kids to be sitting at home

Kids who play sports are generally more physically active than those who don't

Haha, yes I'm coaching

You're the guy that has your kids in rec rather than a competitive league and are saying this. Hilarious.

My boys play bantam league bball and while that isn't going on they play rec
cambo

Good coaches work with those kids and find ways to make it work. Bad coaches blame the parents for signing them up.
