for quite that long. It began gradually in the 60’s and didn’t become really apparent until the late 70’s and early 80’s. It was tolerable with McBride. Urban is where it became full out toxic. Whitttingham could have settled it down but didn’t. That is what caused me to lose all respect for him.
I note this because it explains why some of the older Brethren have sympathy for them. When they attended there in the 40’s and 50’s it was a different place. It also explains why they sent their kids and are sending their grand kids to BYU now. Who would want to chance your family to that environment ? It’s not the friendly rivalry of years gone by. They actively try to undermine faith and the church. ALUFS downplay this evolution and close their eyes to the newer reality.
